An Initial Reflection on the Changes in This Blog: A Critique of Donald Trump's Proposed Policies on Palestine and Gaza
This article serves as an initial reflection on the changes occurring in this blog, with a primary focus on criticizing Donald Trump's proposed policies regarding Palestine and Gaza. In this context, I want to clearly express my support for the Palestinian people, who are currently facing immense challenges and severe threats.
Last week, reports emerged about Trump's intention to relocate approximately 2 million Gaza residents to neighboring Arab countries. This action blatantly reflects a discriminatory stance and could potentially lead to an outright act of ethnic cleansing. In modern history, ethnic cleansing has always been a highly controversial and widely condemned issue. It is shocking that such an action is still being considered by the leader of a major nation under the pretext of creating a sustainable conflict resolution.
Why is expelling people who have long lived on their land considered a solution? This is not a solution but an unjust and inhumane act. The forced displacement of 2 million people is not just a logistical challenge; it is also a violation of human rights. The enforcement of internationally agreed-upon laws should serve as the foundation for resolving conflicts, not be ignored for particular interests.
Time and again, we hear narratives suggesting that military defeats must be compensated for by the expulsion of residents. If this logic continues, it will perpetuate an endless cycle of violence. Furthermore, every unilateral decision made by Israel, including this displacement, ultimately benefits them while harming Palestine. This is an injustice that cannot be tolerated.
As time goes on, we see signs that Israel will not be able to maintain its current position much longer. Many hadiths indicate that justice will ultimately prevail. Many Islamic scholars believe that the awaited leader of the Muslim community will soon emerge. This hope feels closer than ever, especially with the growing movements and international solidarity continuously rallying support for Palestine.
Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has a crucial role in assisting the Palestinian people. Ongoing diplomatic and humanitarian support demonstrates that we care not only for our fellow believers but also for universal human values. In this regard, the Indonesian public must become increasingly aware of this issue and contribute in various ways, whether through fundraising, advocacy, or spreading accurate information about the situation in Palestine.
We must constantly remember that what the Palestinian people face is not merely a territorial dispute but also a struggle for the right to live with dignity. Confronting oppression requires courage, and that courage must emerge from all levels of society, including those of us who are far from the geographical boundaries of this conflict. Our involvement is essential because what is happening in Palestine is a humanitarian issue that should concern all of humanity.
Criticizing the policies issued by major powers is not an act of war but an effort to voice injustice. World leaders must reconsider their actions and listen to the voices of the oppressed. As many activists have said, if we do not care about what happens in distant places, we will not care when it happens near us.
Therefore, let us continue to speak out and support every movement that seeks to restore the rights of the Palestinian people. Every article, every campaign, and every prayer we offer will be meaningful. This is a call for all of us to never forget that humanity must stand together against oppression, regardless of its form or justification. We must continue to uphold justice—not just for Palestine, but for all the oppressed people across the world.
